Shout Out to the Marin Family!

Just wanted to say thank you to Orlando and Maria Marin for hooking us up with the truck and trailer for the parade yesterday! And to Orlando for being our driver!

I think the leaders appreciated it a little more than the girls did.....but I know it was so nice to ride instead of have to walk (even though some of the girls chose to walk!).....

Thank you, Orlando & Maria!

Secret Sisters

I want to get the girls involved in a Secret Sister Encouragement/Gift Exchange for Christmas.

Participating girls will be assigned a "secret sister". They can send their sister encouraging cards, emails, letters, or small gifts the first 2 meetings in December; then on GLAM night (December 18), we will go Christmas caroling (further details to come soon) - afterwards we will have a time of fellowship for our AHG girls and they can reveal their identity to their secret sister with a gift.

Guidelines:
~ commit to bringing a small gift or note of encouragement on December 4 and December 11 ($5 max each week)
~ commit to bringing a reveal gift on December 18 ($10 max)
~ commit to encouraging and praying for your secret sister for those 3 weeks

Please do not participate if you can't commit to the guidelines. This is meant to be a fun and encouraging activity for our girls. If someone commits to participate but then doesn't follow through, the girl on the receiving end is the one that suffers. It's not fair for her to adhere to the guidelines for the sister she is encouraging and then not be "loved" back by her secret sister. Hope that makes sense.

Please let me know if your daughter is interested in participating no later than next Wednesday, November 21.

I will draw names and get the assignments out to you no later than Friday, November 23. That way you have plenty of time to plan/prepare for the December meetings.

Parade Details

The HP Holiday Parade starts at 3:00pm Sunday.

We are to be in our position, lining up at 1:30pm.

The Marin family has lined up a truck and trailer for us to use. So, hopefully there will be enough room for everyone to ride. Thank you, Marins!!!

We are number 58 in the parade line-up.

We need 2 girls to volunteer to walk and carry the AHG banner in front of the truck.....we can switch out and let the girls rotate carrying the banner.

We will also have a few posters that can be held while riding. Julie O'Toole will provide the posters and some streamers to decorate the trailer. Thank you, Julie! Kelsey will also be providing a couple of American flags that we will hang on the back of the trailer. Thank you, Kelsey!

If you have an American flag (the kind on a stick) that your daughter can bring to wave, please bring that. I have some for those of you that may not have one (I have some, but probably not enough for everyone)....or you can purchase them at Hobby Lobby (a pack of 2 is $1.99). If you borrow one of mine, please be sure to return it....I will keep them for next year's use as well.

Girls should be in uniform - please put as many layers under the uniform as you can; we'd like the uniforms to be visible - hats, scarves, and gloves are also good. :-) I think it's supposed to be cold, so bundle up!

Please drop your daughter off at 1:30. Our line up spot is between Grimes and GTCC Pl. There is an overflow parking lot for Wood Armfield located at the corner of Grimes and Main (right across Grimes from Ilderton Dodge). You can access it from the back (corner of Wrenn and Grimes). We will have a couple of leaders/adults waiting there to escort your daughter to our line up spot. We will have adults there to escort your daughter until 1:45...so if you arrive after that, you will need to escort your daughter to find us in the line-up.

Please pick your daughter up in the Walgreen's parking lot (corner of Main & Montlieu). Once we arrive there in the parade line-up, your daughter is free to leave with you.

Please join us for dinner at Sir Pizza after the parade.

We would like to alert Sir Pizza that we are coming, so please let me know if you plan to join us.

Please let me know if you have any questions or need details that I left out.

I have the map and the block of Main St where we are supposed to line up for the parade. I am going tomorrow to scope out the area and see what the best plan for dropping off girls will be.

I will post to the group some time tomorrow afternoon/evening with all of the details for you guys.

Thanks for your patience.

Important Announcements/Reminders~11/8/12

1. Operation Christmas Child: We are participating in Operation Christmas Child as a troop. The Pioneers passed out information about this on Tuesday night. Please put together shoeboxes with your family and bring them to AHG Tuesday night or to CBC no later than November 18. Visit Samaritan's Purse for more information about how to pack a shoebox. Please contact Beth Polson or Angel Pupo if you have other questions or require additional information. Don't forget to include $7 per shoebox - this covers shipping costs for Samaritan's Purse.

2. Dance Pictures: I was contacted today about the pictures from the dance. They are ready. Some will be delivered to CBC church-goers on Sunday; the remainder will be delivered Tuesday night.

3. "B" Uniform T-shirts: Our t-shirts are ready as well! I should have them to be distributed on Tuesday night.

4. Merchandise Orders: If you are in need of ordering any missing uniform parts (numbers, pins, patches, etc) please let Kelsey Dumoulin know as soon as possible. She will be placing an order soon. She will let you know the prices and your total due.

5. Parade: Please let me know as soon as possible if you are planning to participate in the parade. We need to secure the use of a trailer and the number of participants will help us determine how big of a trailer we need. We also will need to devise a plan for decorating the trailer/truck. Please let me know if you and your daughter would be interested in helping with this.

6. Upcoming Events for November:

November 13: Regular Meeting Blueberries are going off campus to complete the Horsemanship requirements -- if you have not turned in your High Adventure Medical Form, please do so. Your daughter will not be allowed to participate without it.

November 18: Parade - specific details should be available by the end of this week (I'm still awaiting final details about line up/number in parade, etc).

November 20: No Meeting - Thanksgiving

November 27: Leaders' Meeting - no girl meetings

Parade - Here's What We Need!

I spoke with the Parade Manager this afternoon. After speaking with her, we need a trailer (like lawn businesses use - bigger than what just a lawnmower would fit on) and a pick-up truck. From her experience, we can most likely fit 20 on the trailer and another 10 or 15 in the back of the truck.

We have bales of hay from the dance that we can put in the trailer.....then we will just need to do some decorating. :-)

Please, please let me know if you or someone you know has a truck and trailer we can borrow (obviously we will also need someone to drive).

Thanks!

Need a headcount!

Please let me know if you plan on attending the HP Parade on the 18th. We need a firm headcount so we can plan our "float" (ie - if we will be able to ride or will have to walk).

Please let me know asap.

Thanks!

Erin

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

WOW!!! What a wonderful night for the dads and daughters!

Thank you to everyone for your support of AHG through ticket purchases and attending the dance tonight!

Thank you to all that stayed to help with clean up. The old saying that says "many hands make light work" is definitely true. With so many hands helping, clean up only took a little over an hour! That is truly a blessing!

I hope everyone had a great time!

Have a great weekend....see everyone Tuesday night!

Father/Daugher Dance Reminders

Today is the day!!!!

I hope your daddy/daughter pairs are looking forward to a great evening of fun, food, and dancing!

Just a couple reminders:

1. The entrance on the side of the building will be open tonight (if you are looking at the building, there is a parking lot and an entrance on the left hand side). Enter there, proceed down the hallway, drop your food items off at the kitchen window, check in/purchase your tickets at the registration table; then you will proceed through to the photographer and then to the gym.

2. There will be a professional photographer to take pictures, as in years past. The cost is $5 for a keepsake photo of dad and girl(s).

3. Upon entering the gym, the door prize tables will be on the wall to the right. Please be sure to place your pink tickets in the hat(s) of the items you wish to be entered to win. Each girl and dad will receive 5 tickets to use for door prizes. Additional tickets, if wanted, can be purchased for $1 each or 6 for $5.

We hope you all have an enjoyable evening!

2 Needs

First, if any dads are available to stay and help with some clean up tomorrow night after the dance, we would be ever grateful! Or if any moms could come over to CBC around 9:00 to help, that would be great too.

Second, we are hoping to be a "riding" group in the parade instead of a marching/walking group. We will need some type of truck/trailer combo that would hold possibly as many as 50-60 people (if that's even possible!).....We really have no idea where to start with trying to find something like this so thought we'd start with our parents. So, anyone that has any idea about where we could get some type of trailer please let me know. Once we have that part figured out, we can determine how to decorate it, etc.

Thanks!
